At TPI, we aim to establish a cradle of scholarship, research and innovation - making the transition from fundamental science to applied science.

The Photonics Institute is the culmination of intense preparatory work spanning several years between NTU and the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton, along with support from various institutions such as A*STAR, DSO and EDB, in order to establish a world-leading centre in Singapore for photonics technology research.

Working with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, we presently operate the following key centres:
